Flannel + Skirt

Dressing up flannel

Hope you all had a great weekend! Libby and I hosted a festive little cookie decorating party for some DC blogger friends and it was truly a Sunday well-spent getting even more into the mood of the season. There’s definitely a good buzz in the air…everyone seemed to be out Christmas tree shopping, hitting up the latest holiday themed bar, or visiting festive sites around where they live! What were you up to this weekend?

L.L. Bean Flannel

On the getting dressed front, who else loves incorporating cozy flannels into your wardrobe whenenver possible this time of year? They’re actually quite versatile…if you work in a more casual “business casual” office, it’s probably easier than you think to sub out a typical button down for a tailored flannel. I’d pair it with a skirt before I would pants, since it’s a little more professional looking this way. I also prefer my flannels to fit looser (wearing a medium) so sizing is something to keep in mind if you’ll be trying this look more.

Another easy “nicer” flannel look? Topping it with a v-neck or crewneck sweater…it adds a little bulk but is such a classic–not to mention warm–ensemble! It won’t come as much of a surprise, but I’m obsessed with the L.L. Bean Scotch Plaid “Slightly Fitted” Shirts…definitely recommend it over the “relaxed” fit. They’re also available for men so something to keep in mind if you’re still gift shopping!
