If you are a die hard Lilly and/or Target fan (correct me if I’m wrong, but I find that most Lilly fans are Target fans), you’ve heard the buzz –or hoopla– surrounding the upcoming Lilly Pulitzer for Target collaboration. It launches this Sunday, April 19 (allegedly between 1-3am EST), and after months of teasers, we finally got a glimpse of the Lookbook a few weeks ago.
While the clothes are gorgy (they’re also offering plus sizes and a little girls line!), the home decor is also a worth a second look, since aside from cups, tumblers, and the occasional other item, Lilly doesn’t typically do homewares. This whole collection is affordable and fits right in with the brand’s upbeat, bright, preppy aesthetic. There are multiple plate and glass sets, pillows, home accents, and even a flask. Scroll through the interactive lookbook to see everything at once… there isn’t an itemized page for each piece yet!
I love most things in the collection, but will probably exercise a great deal of self control and pick up a dress or two, something from the homewares, and maybe a scarf. And maybe a halter. The return window is only 14 days, though, so keep that in mind when you order multiple sizes and are looking to take some back. This Racked article covers everything you need to know.
What do you think of this collab? With all the enthusiasm, there has also been a lot of negative talk about it as many people believe that Lilly is tarnishing it’s brand by making its pieces less exclusive by selling them at a much lower price point (for reference, most shift dresses on their site are around $200, and the shift dresses in the Target collaboration are $38). I’m curious to hear where you guys stand on this spectrum… I can see both sides, but as long as the brand doesn’t do things like this often, have no problem with it! It’s great that everyone can help spread the Lilly love and the plus size and homewares section, which isn’t normally available, are amazing, amazing things!
Something to note: the plus size line and much of the jewelry/shoes will be online-only. Set your alarms (or stay up!) Saturday night/early Sunday morning and shop the sale… given their expectations, things will be selling out within hours!
What do you have your eyes on? Do share… if someone has space for the massive umbrella and hammock, is that on your list?! Here’s hoping sizing runs the same as the rest of Lilly and we all get our first picks :)
